We were invited to bowl and from ball 2, we were right on it. I say ball 2 because the first ball was mis fielded for 2 runs!
That was pretty much the only blemish on a perfect display. Luke Phipps bowled with good pace (2-3 off 2) and had good support from Aditey Allam who was wicketless the other end (0-3). Sam Yardley (3-4) was outstanding and took a brilliant hat trick. The first was an outstanding catch low down from Morgan Fisher, the second clean bowled and the third a fine catch off his own bowling. I was umpiring and when the batsmen hit the ball I couldn't see Sammy getting anywhere near it but I should never have doubted him! A full length dive and he came up smiling grasping the ball in 2 hands. Jack Malton got some real turn and took 4-2 with 3 clean bowled. Krish Bhatt finished the innings off taking a wicket without conceding a run and we had bowled out Towcester for just 14.
Our fielding was simply outstanding all night and that standard is one we must continue to maintain for the rest of the season. The catching in particular was a treat to watch as we pocketed every chance that came our way.
We allowed Towcestrians to bat their 20 overs and wickets continued to fall with everyone getting a bowl and getting in on the act.
In reply, Ali was pushed up the order and opened with Ram. After 3.1 overs they had knocked off the runs for a very convincing win. we did bat on and the boys did well scoring over 150 in the time we batted.
2 games left to go can we finish the league unbeaten?
