Overstone Park U11s v Heyford U11s

Chris Malton

U11s finish in style

We had to play todays game on the Artificial wicket due to all the rain we have had and played against a Heyford side early in their cricketing journey.

We were able to give a few different players a game today and all did well showing the depth we have in the club.

Heyford batted and our bowling was tight throughout. There were wickets for Ali 1-1, Krish 2-3, Aryan 1-3, Luke 3-3 bowling some nice Off-spin, Will 1-7 and Rajan 1-7.
I thought Sofia bowled really well today and now needs to take the confidence from her bowling into her batting. Aryan took his first wicket for Overstone with a beauty first ball but Dad Mukesh, was a little slow with the video and missed it! Our fielding was good and Connor did well as Captain for the day. Both keepers Will and Ali did well too each taking a smart catch behind the stumps.

When it was our turn to bat Connor 12 from 14 and Luca 6 from 10 opened up again and did well not losing a wicket getting us off to a good start. Ali and Krishan were next in and Krishan did really well especially considering he hasn't played that much. Ali didn't have his best innings but he has been. a star for us all year so he is allowed one off day. Luke and Sofia continued to plunder runs with Luke hitting 28 off just 15 balls with 6 fours. His timing was excellent and it would have been the perfect innings but for a smart catch by one of the Heyford players.
Aryan and Krish were in next and I wasn't sure whether the brothers would fight? Both played really well and Aryan hit a lovely 4 off his legs as well as a nice square drive getting 5 runs. Krish showed his class again with 12 off 11 and a beautiful back foot square cut for 4.
Our final pairing was Will and Rajan who both batted well. Will scored his first ever, and second 6 both struck well and Rajan played some nice drives.

We finished on 410-8 v 281-9 meaning we have won all but 1 of our games. In all likelihood this probably means we were second in the league behind Saints to whom we lost on the opening day. That would be a real cracker of a game if both teams were at full strength. An excellent season again and thx to everyone who has played along the way
