We have lots of kids in the U11 age group and the standard of cricket is usually very strong but against Towcester, we were disappointing.

Having been invited to bat first we came upon against bowling that Wass good and straight. None of our players really got on top at any stage with several getting bowled and then we had a few silly run outs on top. Our Top scorer was Luca with 10 (he was out once net 5) but Aidan was probably the pick not getting out and scoring 6. The County players really didn't perform as we might have hoped and expected. That said, take nothing away from Towcester who were excellent and this continued when they batted.

They didn't give their wicket away and were quick to put away any loose bowling. Aidan, Harry and Alex each took 1 wicket and the highlight of our fielding were the 2 catches from Alex, one of which was excellent with the ball going high in the air.

Having posted 274-6 we needed wickets and only getting 4 we were always going to find it tough. That gave us a score of 294-6 and Towcester passed this finishing on 307-4 and a 13 run victory which was well deserved.

Whilst disappointing lots of learning to be had and one thing I know about Junior cricket is that it is consistently inconsistent! We have 2 fixtures this week and I am confident the kids will bounce back and show their true colours
