We finally managed to get a game of cricket and better still I was able to be in shorts tonight!

We lost the toss and were invited to bat.

Harshil and Sammy opened and despite losing an early wicket, they recovered well scoring 9 &10 respectively against a good opening spell by the Saints boys.
Charlie (19) and Ali (5)came in and started to accelerate the scoring. A mix up meant Ali was run out early but some good stroke play soon rescued the position. Charlie hit the shot of the night a glorious extra cover drive for 4
Next in were Rajan (11)and Teddy (20)who both batted really well. Rajan worked the ball around well for 1s and 2s whilst Teddy hit some lovely lofted shots including 2 nice 4s.
Last in were Luke (11)and Krish (3) who batted well against some more good saints bowling. Ashton in particular bowled well for Saints and we finished on 308-2. A really good effort by all the boys against a good Saints team.

Sammy (1-2)took the new ball when Saints came into bat and started with a maiden. Harshil (0-8)then came on to bowl and between them they restricted Saints, who had 2 County players batting, and in the final over of 4, Charlie did a smart piece of fielding throwing the ball to Harshil for a run out.

Rajan (1-3)and Teddy ((1-4) bowled at the next pair and with smart catches from Teddy and Sammy we got 2 more wickets. Charlie (1-11)and Luke(0-5) then bowled with good pace and then Krish (3-6) bowled with good flight to pick up 3 wickets from the final County Pair with another good catch from Teddy. Saints ended up on 254-8 against our 348-2, a 94 run victory.

An excellent all round display including some great fielding too. Lots of energy and all the boys supporting one another. A good start for the U12s. Well done to coach John Phipps too!
